Jessica Davis BS, SLP; COTA/L's Biography

I have worked for non-profit organizations for the past 17 years with a majority of that time being with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities and/or behavioral and emotional disorders. I have provided occupational and speech therapy in the school system and hospital setting, developed and lead life skills and job readiness programs, social and community skills groups and adapted physical education. I have also lead and/or been a part of a team that provided disability awareness training, sensory integration and behavior management techniques to colleagues, college students and parents. In 2010 I took my training (and my heart) outside of work and founded the Wonderfully Made Special Needs Ministry at a local church with a mission to provide acceptance, advocacy, encouragement and one-on-one support (called Buddies) for children with special needs during church services and special events. I currently work for BCI Packaging as a Career Opportunity Consultant, helping individuals with barriers to employment find competitive, integrated work that matches their strengths, needs, abilities and preferences. This is accomplished by helping them clearly define their employment goal, discovering and exploring options in the community, job development, work readiness activities and providing on and off the job support, advocacy and coaching. My work and volunteer experience has helped me be a part of a dynamic and dedicated team that puts potential barriers in the back seat and instead puts people in the driver’s seat with a map for success!
